How many beads are on this japa mala?

This mala carries the full 108 counting beads plus one sumeru bead, the traditional count for japa. The beads are the smaller 8 to 9mm size, so the mala stays light and easy to roll in the fingers.

How do I chant with these small 8-9mm beads?

Hold the mala in the right hand, move one bead with each naam, and turn back at the sumeru instead of crossing it. The small bead size suits long sittings and travels easily in a japa bag.
