The Founder of Pushti Marg

Sri Vallabhacharya (1479-1531) was a great saint and philosopher who established the Pushti Marg (Path of Grace), emphasizing that Krishna's grace alone leads to spiritual perfection. His teachings and the tradition he founded have guided millions of devotees for over 500 years.

A Divinely Ordained Mission

Born in a forest near Varanasi while his parents were fleeing from invaders, Vallabhacharya showed extraordinary spiritual knowledge from childhood. According to tradition, he received direct instruction from Krishna to spread the path of pure devotion and establish deity worship in Vrindavan.

He traveled throughout India three times, debating with scholars and establishing the supremacy of devotional service over dry philosophical speculation.

His Connection to Vrindavan

Vallabhacharya had a profound connection to Vrindavan and Govardhan Hill. He discovered the Shrinathji deity at Govardhan, which became the central deity of the Pushti Marg tradition. This deity is believed to be the same form of Krishna that lifted Govardhan Hill to protect the residents of Vrindavan.

He established several important temples in the Braj region and designated specific places for worship and meditation.

The Pushti Marg Tradition Today

The Shrinathji temple, now in Nathdwara, Rajasthan, remains the central place of worship, though the deity's original home was Govardhan Hill in Vrindavan.
