Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (1486-1534) is revered as the golden avatar of Lord Krishna who descended to spread the sankirtana movement—the congregational chanting of the holy names. Born in Navadvipa, Bengal, he revolutionized devotional practice and brought the teachings of pure love for Krishna to the masses.
His Connection to Vrindavan
Though born in Bengal, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's heart belonged to Vrindavan. He visited the sacred land and experienced intense spiritual ecstasies at every spot where Krishna performed his leelas. His divine madness in separation from Krishna transformed Vrindavan into a living testament of devotional love.

The Six Goswamis of Vrindavan—Rupa, Sanatana, Jiva, Raghunatha Bhatta, Raghunatha Das, and Gopala Bhatta—were direct disciples of Mahaprabhu who established the theological and devotional foundation of Gaudiya Vaishnavism in Vrindavan.
